As a Boston taxi driver once remarked, "A sports museum in Boston is like an art museum in Paris." Indeed, nowhere else in the country is the passion for sports so intense, the tradition as deep, or the shared experience as broad. For the past thirty years, The Sports Museum has fit the bill in all of these respects, serving Boston, New England, and all those who visit our city and our region. A 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization located in Boston, The Sports Museum honors our leading athletes and citizens by preserving and showcasing the distinctly rich sports heritage of New England through an unparalleled collection of artifacts, multimedia, works of art, and interactive exhibits. Located on Levels 5 and 6 of the TD Banknorth Garden, The Sports Museum features more than a half-mile of exhibits honoring the legends and legendary moments of Boston sports. Along the way, we have also built one of the finest collections of film, video, photographs, and research material of its kind in North America. Founded in 1977, our mission is to use sports to teach the values of leadership, respect, and cooperation to our youth. In furtherance of that mission, we offer several innovative educational programs designed for kids, including:
Paris has its art. So does Boston. We also have our sports, however. The Sports Museum is the keeper of the flame in this regard. |
